The spinal areas are divided into three. They are cervical or upper disc area, thoracic or middle back disc area and lumbar or lower disc area.
A herniation occurs when the gel kind of protective material ruptures or slips in to the disc wall. The gel kind of material brings irritation to the nerves in the area followed by swelling and pain. The surgery is done after taking care of the health of the patient, age of the patient, previous neck operation history and the other existing diseases.
