Fractured Vertebrae

Fractured vertebrae occurs when there a crack or break in the spinal bones. It can appear in one or more spinal bones.

There are 24 vertebrae in the spinal cord. It includes nerves which connect the spine to teh brain. The alignment of vertebrae is done in a specific manner. There are 7 vertebrae present in the cervical spine area. Thoracic part has 12 vertebrae and lumbar disc area has 5 vertebrae. These protect the spine to be erect and give flexibility to the spine.

How Does Spine Fracture?

The spine is safely protected by bones and nerves. There are 31 pairs of nerves which links the spinal cord to the nerve roots. These safeguards the spine from injuries. A spinal injury occurs when a bone presses to the smooth covering of the spinal cord. Most of the spine injuries take place due to motor vehicle accidents, sports, diving, different falls, and violent activities.

Doing Physio therapy may be a great treatment option for fractured vertebrae. Pain killing drugs, diet and dietary supplements and soft back braces can be used for resting the fractured vertebrae.
